HOUSTON — Whataburger is marking its 75th anniversary with a nostalgic twist, bringing back fan-favorite menu items and introducing new offerings as part of a year-long celebration.
The fast-food chain announced the return of the Monterey Melt and Chicken Fajita Taco to kick off the anniversary festivities, along with new drink options — the Mexican Hot Chocolate Coffee and Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake.
“We love keeping things fresh at Whataburger, but sometimes the best way to celebrate is by serving up the classics,” Whataburger President & CEO Debbie Stroud said. “Our 75th anniversary is all about honoring three-quarters of a century of flavor and, more importantly, celebrating our amazing Fans who’ve been with us every step of the way.”
Whataburger brings back classic menu items
The Monterey Melt, last seen in 2022, features two beef patties topped with Monterey Jack and American cheese, grilled onions, peppers, and Jalapeño Ranch sauce.
The Chicken Fajita Taco includes grilled chicken breast, onions, poblano, and red peppers in a flour tortilla, with options for Monterey Jack cheese, jalapeños, and avocado.
Both items will return to menus starting Jan. 7 for a limited time.
Whataburger adds two new drink items
New menu additions include the Mexican Hot Chocolate Coffee, described as rich and chocolatey with hints of cinnamon, and the Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake, a creamy, cinnamon-infused dessert option.
Wrangler, Whataburger team up on clothing line
The celebration extends beyond food, with Whataburger planning exclusive promotions for Rewards program members, merchandise drops, and collaborations, including a 24-piece collection with Wrangler set to launch in spring 2025.
The Wrangler x Whataburger line will feature denim jackets, jeans, graphic tees, and ballcaps, which are available at select retailers and online at the Whatastore.

Whataburger online store adds monthly deals
The Whatastore is also introducing special monthly deals priced at $19.50, a nod to the year the brand was founded.
“We’re going all in for the people who love Whataburger,” Stroud said. “From bringing back some of the most requested menu items to launching brand-new creations and exciting prizes, this year is about giving back to the folks who’ve supported us through the years.”
