The A9 has been closed in both directions following a horror crash between a lorry and two cars.
Emergency services are currently in attendance at the collision in Shalmstry, near Thurso in the Highlands. The stretch of road was shut off by police earlier this morning.
A single lane has since been reopened. It is currently unknown if there are any injuries.
It comes as the region was issued with a yellow weather warning for snow and ice. The alert, which came into place at midday on Sunday, covers snow showers, ice and rain. The conditions have led to the temporary closures of several schools in the council area today, including Keiss Primary, Lochinver Primary, Portree High School and Portree Primary.
Travel disruption is likely to take place today due to flooding from heavy rain and thawing from snow, the Met Office said. The alert will remain in place until 11am on Monday.
A statement from Traffic Scotland reads: “A9 – Shalmstry (South of Thurso) one lane is now running, with police management in place following an earlier closure due to a collision. Please take care on approach.”
The Record has approached Police Scotland for comment.
