Two units were damaged in the fire and six others had utilities shut off, according to the Austin Fire Department.

AUSTIN, Texas — Roughly 15 people cannot return home after an apartment complex caught fire just before 1 a.m. Monday. 

According to the Austin Fire Department (AFD), the fire happened at 6636 W. William Cannon Dr., at Lantana Ridge. 

Crews said the fire started from flammable framing near a fireplace, but it has since been put out. The fire was also seen in the attic, according to responders. 

AFD said two units were damaged: one from the fire, and another from fire control and water. Six additional units are currently without utilities, and impacted residents are receiving assistance from apartment management. 

No additional information is available at this time.
