While it may seem like the ideal job for most animal lovers, working in a doggy daycare can be quite revealing – and might even discourage you from owning certain breeds.

That’s what one worker alleges after sharing the dog breeds she would never want to own after interacting with them. TikTok user @allyburkk sparked a lively debate when she unveiled her personal views on the eight dog types she would avoid, leading many people to rush to the comments to defend their preferred breeds.

Firstly, she would never want to own a Goldendoodle because she’s “never met a good one”. She claims they’re “poorly bred, raging psychopaths, come from backyard breeders, no health testing regulations, horrible mix of breeds”.

Next, she would avoid Bernese Mountain dogs as she “had a horrible experience with one”. She added: “Every single one I’ve met is a vacuum, also prone to aggression and they don’t live very long.”.

Samoyed was next on her list because “they’re too much work”. She said: “Their fur is not for the weak and they’re so stubborn”.

She states she would steer clear of Breica Weimaraners because “most of them are neurotic psychos”, and Doberman Pinschers as they’re challenging to train.

Surprisingly, she also says she wouldn’t want to own a Labrador, asserting “they’re nut cases”. She added: “Some are lovely, others are demon spawns. Too big of a risk.” The Labrador Retriever is currently the most popular dog breed in the UK, according to statistics from the Kennel Club.

While she didn’t provide a reason, she says she also wouldn’t want to own an Atlas or a Chihuahua. But plenty of people in the comments section had different thoughts.

One participant in the discussion responded to the post by saying: “While I love my childhood Weimaraner, I understand. They aren’t the brightest at times.”

Another joined the conversation with: “Samoyeds are the best! But you’re right they are very stubborn and the fur never ends! But I wouldn’t have it any other way.” And a third contributor agreed: “As someone who worked at a daycare as well, I concur.”

In addition, another individual pointed out that “not every breed is for every owner” encouraging prospective pet owners to do their homework before inviting a new four-legged companion into their home.

A different commenter suggested that animal lovers should look at rescue centres rather than breeders, as there are numerous dogs already looking for a forever home.

It should be mentioned that the TikTok user’s insights stem from personal encounters. Across the board, irrespective of breed, all dogs need proper training and not every breed will be suitable for every potential owner.
