Dinamo Zagreb have reportedly ramped up their pursuit of Greg Taylor in the wake of Brendan Rodgers’ furious response to the Celtic fans.

The boss accused the Parkhead faithful of “disrespect” after Kieran Tierney’s name was chanted during the Scottish Premiership victory – with the Celtic boss questioning if the punters had realised how they were impacted on current first-choice left-back Taylor. And amid the storm, the Croatian champions have reportedly made their move to bring in the Scotland international this month with Tierney inching towards the Arsenal exit.

Record Sport had previously revealed that Dinamo were pushing for a pre-contract agreement with Taylor after he entered the final six months of his deal – while he is still holding on to hope that he can extend his stay at Parkhead. But Sportske Novoski report that the Dinamo are undeterred and preparing a “logical” offer for the defender to try and bring him to Fabio Cannavaro’s side and plan “enquire about a possible price” for the Hoops’ man.

Amid talks of a pre-contract return to Celtic, Tierney was named on the bench for Arsenal’s draw with Brighton but was not given minutes on the pitch by Mikel Arteta. And former Hoops’ hero Peter Grant reckons there are doubts over the 27-year-old’s fitness should he make a dream return to his boyhood heroes.

Speaking to Go Radio, he said: “As the player fully fit, he is the best left-back we have got and he would be the best left-sided centre-back when he plays with the national team. There is absolutely no doubting his quality.

“My question mark is, is he going to play all the games? That’s even in Scotland. I know people will say, ‘oh, it’s Scottish football’ or whatever. But you can’t invest that type of money if you aren’t allowed to select someone and Kieran was the one who was constantly playing the last time. That was the difference.”
