BLUEFIELD, W. Va. -West Virginia’s Christmas City’s “Holiday of Lights,” the annual light display at the Bluefield City Park that runs through the holiday season, had its last weekend on December 4th.

Since Thanksgiving, people have been able to come out and enjoy the more than 1.3 million lights that make up this shining Bluefield tradition. While Sunday would normally be the last day, the weather unfortunately caused the Holiday of Lights to end a day early this season, but we were still able bring you one last look at this year’s display, with snow on the ground to complete this winter wonderland. While not as much as earlier in the season, there were people who braved the cold Saturday night to see the lights one last time before they’re packed away until next Thanksgiving. We also spoke to some of the people volunteering at the Holiday of Lights who shared their thoughts on the annual event that brings so many people to the park.

“I think it’s just like town tradition of, like, every year waiting for the lights to be put up and then as soon as Thanksgiving hits, it’s packed…” says Isabella Sturgell.

“It’s a very fun, and it’s just like a nice thing to do before we all go back to school…” says Jillian Boothe.

Again, the Holiday of Lights will not be operating on Sunday, December 5th to allow the City to focus on keeping the roads clear.
