Luke Littler, the 17-year-old darts sensation, has been managing his skyrocketing earnings wisely, with his most lavish purchase to date being a new bag.

The young prodigy outdid himself at Alexandra Palace last week, clinching his first Sid Waddell trophy in a 7-3 victory over Michael van Gerwen, just a year after his defeat to Luke Humphries.

This win not only reaffirmed his status as the PDC’s top player but also boosted his already impressive career earnings by £500,000, bringing his total prize money to around £1million – and that’s not even counting his various endorsements and brand deals.

Despite this, Littler has remained modest with his spending reports the Mirror. After winning the Players Championship 20 title last September, he revealed that his biggest purchase had been a “I bought myself a nice bag”.

Now, with his recent Ally Pally triumph propelling him to World No.2, Littler has set his sights on his first car. “I’ve always loved a Mercedes A-Class – just a small car,” Littler shared.

He continued, “Last year, I was looking at driving, and I loved the Ford Focus, but now I’ve gone up in the world just a little! I haven’t had driving lessons yet because it’s been so hectic, but I’m going to have to do it before I get into my twenties when it’ll be too late and I can’t be bothered.

“If I get a car, it won’t be a birthday present from anyone. I think it would have to be a birthday present from me to me.”

While the cost of a new bag may seem insignificant compared to the prospect of cruising in a brand-new car, Littler’s choice of vehicle remains modest.

As a teenager with a bright future ahead, ‘The Nuke’ shows prudent financial restraint despite his soaring talent, staying down-to-earth.

“I have knuckled down. I don’t go out wandering around the streets,” said Littler, reflecting on his championship victory. “I have really knuckled down, and now it has paid off. This is why we play the game – for the titles. Obviously the money is there, but one thing I do enjoy when I do lift the trophy is when all the confetti comes down and the sparkles go up.”
