A six-month-old baby girl has tragically died following a collision in a car park. The incident occurred in a multi-storey car park in Tenby, Wales on January 2.
Sophia Kelemen, from Leigh in Manchester, was rushed to hospital after the crash but sadly passed away from her injuries on January 3, Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed on Monday.
In a statement, the police force said: “Our thoughts remain with her family at this difficult time. They are being supported by specially trained officers.”
Flaviu Naghi, 33, of Irvine Street, Leigh, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, as well as driving without a license and without insurance. Naghi appeared at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on January 4 and was remanded in custody to appear before Swansea Crown Court on February 7.
According to police, Naghi was also arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving and has been released on bail for those offences. The police added in their statement: “This is a tragic incident and remains a live investigation. We ask that you do not speculate about the circumstances.”
