CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Jimmy Wriston, the West Virginia Secretary of Transportation, is urging people to use extreme caution on the roadways as crews work to treat, clear and maintain the state’s highway system.
“If you don’t have to go out in stuff like this, just don’t,” Wriston said. “Stay at home if you can, but if you have to go, go slow and give these drivers a lot of room. There’s no reason to go fast in this kind of stuff because going fast can cost you a lot of time.”
Wriston expressed in a press release his appreciation for everyone who worked through the night in order to keep roadways passable.
Crews worked through cold, snow, and freezing rain to keep the roads clear, and you can stay up to date with road conditions on the WV511 website.
