A four-year-old boy has sustained facial injuries and a woman has been hospitalised after a vicious dog attack in the Scottish Borders.
The incident happened at around 3pm on Saturday, January 4 in Hawick. A 35-year-old woman and the boy were walking in the Wilson Drive area when they were attacked from behind by a brown and tan Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog.
The child received facial injuries as a result of the attack, while the woman suffered an arm injury. They were both taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.
Police Scotland is now appealing for witnesses as they attempt to find the owner of the dangerous dog. The force believes the dog was last seen heading towards Chay Blyth Place.
A Police Scotland statement said: “Anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have information that could help identify the owner of the dog responsible, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1789 of Saturday, 4 January, 2025.”
