We’re only one week into the New Year, but Babygirl is already one of the most talked about films of 2025. The erotic drama, which is causing commotion on social media for its risqué subject matter, is set to land in cinemas this Friday for all to indulge in.
Written and directed by Halina Reijn, best known for her 2022 hit comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies, the thriller delves deep into female sexuality through the lens of a heated love affair.
Nicole Kidman leads the cast as Romy, a high-flying CEO who has a picture-perfect life until she finds herself attracted to a much younger intern, played by Iron Claw star Harris Dickinson. The pair soon spark a sultry affair, going behind the back of Romy’s seemingly ideal spouse, Antonio Banderas.
Of all the steamy scenes in the almost two-hour drama, viewers have latched onto one raunchy moment – the infamous ‘milk scene.’ However, there is one segment that blows it out of the water.
The surprising scene went viral following the film’s debut in the USA on Christmas Day. Viewers watch Romy and her colleagues at a bar, where she only attends to see her new fling, Samuel Dickinson’s character.
While she’s chatting with another senior member of the team, Samuel unexpectedly orders Romy a glass of milk, silently instructing her to drink it. Ignoring her colleague, who is confused by the order, Romy downs the whole glass, prompting Samuel to praise her by saying, “Good girl,” before they leave the bar.
Although the moment is fleeting and frankly quite tame compared to the rest of the flick, it gained even more attention when writer Reijn revealed it was based on her own “hot” experience with a young actor.
“There was this young Belgian actor — I can’t say who it is — but he was famous. I knew of him. I’d never spoken to him. He was at least 15 years younger than I, and he ordered me a glass of milk. I thought it was an incredible, hot thing to do and so courageous, and so I wanted to reward him by drinking the whole thing, and I did. It did make me a little nauseated, to be honest with you, because it was cow milk. It was back in the day,” she told IndieWire.
From X, formerly Twitter, to TikTok, fans haven’t stopped talking about the scene.
However, contrary to social media’s verdict, the real star of Babygirl is its ‘Father Figure’ montage. Set to George Michael’s 1987 hit song, the segment captures the couple secluded from the rest of the world in a gold-clad hotel. We watch the duo develop a deeper relationship, from establishing a safe word to sharing vulnerable thoughts as they cuddle in bed.
It peaks with Dickinson dancing shirtless for Kidman, who sits in a hotel robe ogling at him. The scene is arguably the drama’s climax because it drives home the message that the duo find solace in their torrid affair.
Romy, who has been with her husband for 19 years, has never been sexually satisfied by him but effortlessly connects with her sexuality when she is with Samuel. The 20-something intern similarly explores his relationship with sex and youth through the fling.
But beyond its depth, the scene places one of Hollywood’s most talked-about heartthrobs in the spotlight, flaunting his tattoos and sultry moves – so it undoubtedly takes the cake over the milk scene.
