Coronation Street fans are in shock as Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker, has announced his departure from the popular ITV soap and among them is Gogglebox favourite Izzy Warner.
The TV star has now reacted to the exit of the beloved Corrie star, who first graced the Cobbles at the tender age of 12 and quickly became a fan favourite, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Gogglebox’s Izzi Warner, known for her commentary on Corrie, expressed her sadness over Colson’s exit, stating: “Goodbye to the hardest working copper ever seen on the cobbles!”
Announcing the end of his time in Weatherfield, the 26-year-old wrote in an Instagram post: “Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinkers time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. I’ve LOVED every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the GREATEST street in the world.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation street. I’ve learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home.
“I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy. For Me, this is just the end of the beginning. I genuinely can’t wait to see what chapter 2 has in store for me. LONG LIVE THE COBBLES! “
Colson’s co-stars were equally heartbroken by his departure. Andy Whyment, who portrays Kirk Sutherland, shared: “I’m still absolutely gutted and you know how much you’re gonna be missed by us all.”
Sue Devaney, known for her role as Debbie Webster, shared her admiration: “Love you Cols. so proud of you. Looking forward to watching your journey and can’t wait to see all your new exciting projects come to fruition! Shine bright young man and can we still have a party in your mega garden please? ”
Lucy Fallon, who portrays Bethany Platt, expressed her emotions: “now that i’ve stopped crying about it, i can’t WAIT to see you slay the day. x”
Sally Ann Matthews, Jenny Bradley on screen, conveyed her affection: “Grandma loves ya and can’t wait to watch you fly! x” while Alan Halsall, the show’s Tyrone Dobbs, wrote: Gutted mate, but also excited for you, get out there and smash it.”
Tina O’Brien, playing Sarah Platt, simply stated: “Love you Cols”.
