During Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women, it appeared that Coleen Nolan was somewhat underwhelmed. The panel had been discussing Demi Moore’s recent Golden Globes speech and the lasting impact of people’s comments over time.
As Ruth Langsford turned to Brenda Edwards first, she shared an experience of not getting along with a former boss, leading to her departure. Janet Street-Porter also chimed in with memories of her teachers commenting on her accent.
However, the conversation ended abruptly without Ruth asking Coleen for her input. Noticing the oversight, Coleen quipped: “Oh, you haven’t got time for me, so that’s going to stick with me forever.”
Laughter broke out among the panel as Ruth admitted: “I didn’t think you’d notice! I was like, I’ve got to get on to the next topic, but she won’t mind.”
Coleen continued with a touch of humour: “Yeah, go on, I don’t care, no, don’t talk to me, don’t even touch me.” While the exchange seemed light-hearted, Janet pointed out it was her first day back and there was already playful bickering between them, reports the Liverpool Echo.
When the topic shifted to supporting children’s passions, Ruth made sure to address Coleen first this time. Coleen responded with a hint of sarcasm: “Oh, thank you for asking!”
She then opened up about her children’s school experiences, advocating for focusing on their clear passions. Reflecting on the intense pressure her daughter faced during her GSCEs.
Coleen revealed: “She’d been asked since she was 13 at school, ‘What do you want to do?’She used to cry at home and say, ‘Mum, I don’t know what I want to do and they keep asking me.'”
Coleen advised her daughter to just tell her teachers any career choice to get them off her back, while noting that her sons had always had clear career aspirations.
Explaining further, she added: “I always knew Jake was going to be an actor, singer or director, he was just passionate about it. All I said to them was you have to do your exams, so do the best you can.”
Yet, the Loose Women panellist pointed out that her daughter, who performed admirably in her exams, hasn’t ever been queried about her grades in job interviews.
Sharing her early enthusiasm for music, Coleen spoke of the support they received.
