Major roadworks are set to take place at two roundabouts in Ayr this month.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A77 at Bankfield and Holmston Roundabouts from Friday, January 10 until Tuesday, January 21.
Works will commence at Holmston Roundabout with a full weekend closure between 8pm on Friday, January 10 and 6am on Monday, January 13.
The A70 will be closed on either side of Holmston roundabout with the A77 remaining open throughout the weekend.
Traffic from east of Holmston Roundabout will follow the B742 south at Hillhead before turning right onto the A713 and joining the A77 at Bankfield Roundabout.
Traffic from Ayr will follow Holmston Road, Hillfoot Road and Dalmellington Road to join the A77 at Bankfield Roundabout.
There will then be one overnight closure of the A77 between Whitletts Roundabout and Bankfield Roundabout with the A70 remaining open, between 8pm on Monday 13th January and 6am on Tuesday, January 14.
Northbound traffic will leave the A77 onto the A713 Dalmellington Road, continuing on Castlehill Road and joining the A70 Station Road before turning left onto the A79 John Street the taking the third exit at the roundabout onto the A719 Whittletts Rd and continuing to rejoin the A77 at Whitletts Roundabout.
Southbound traffic will take the route in reverse.
Traffic for the A77 from Coylton will continue on the A70 to Station Road and follow the north or southbound diversion.
There will then be works at Bankfield Roundabout requiring a full weekend closure of the A77 between Holmston Roundabout and the Maybole Road Junction between 8pm on Friday, January 17 and 6am on Monday, January 20, followed by a final overnight closure at this location between 8pm on Monday, January 20 and 6am on Tuesday, January 21.
The A77 will be closed between Holmston Roundabout and the Maybole Road Junction for the duration of the works at Bankfield Roundabout.
Northbound A77 traffic will exit at the Maybole Road junction and continue onto St Leonards Road, Carrick Road and Beresford Terrace before turning right onto the A70 and following Holmston Road to rejoin the A77 at Holmston Roundabout.
Southbound traffic will take the route in reverse, following the one way system in Ayr.
Traffic from the A713 from Ayr or the hospital will not be able to join the A77 but will be controlled across Bankfield Roundabout with temporary traffic lights.
Traffic for the A77 will follow Dalmellington Road and Castlehill Road to join the above diversion at the A70.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
