Jamie Carragher served up the perfect comeback to Mo Salah after being called out by the Egyptian King on social media.

Liverpool idol Salah has entered the final six months of his contract and it remains to be seen whether he’ll still be at Anfield next season – with no agreement in the pipeline. The 32-year-old has been vocal over his future and has previously confessed that this could be his final season with the Premier League leaders after eight spectacular years with the club.

Boss Arne Slot also faces a battle to keep captain Virgil van Dijk and Real Madrid target Trent Alexander-Arnold as their contracts also expire this summer. Salah recently claimed he’s “more out, than in” when quizzed on his contract situation, and that didn’t sit well with Reds legend Carragher – who insisted the fans’ favourite and homegrown hero Alexander-Arnold should take a leaf out of Van Dijk’s book by shrugging off questions and avoiding cryptic posts on Instagram.

However, hitting back at Carragher’s thoughts on Monday Night Football, Salah wrote on X: “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me”. Rather than get involved in an ugly war of words, the Sky Sports pundit playfully replied: “I’ve always been obsessed with you Mo Salah. Hopefully that obsession will continue next season.”

Reacting live to Salah’s tweet on Sky’s coverage, Carragher also added: “That Mo Salah tweet there, that does give me more confidence he’ll stay. He’s building bridges, using the winking emoji, he’s trying to get on my good side isn’t he.”

Carragher’s reply went down well online too, as one fan wrote: “Love it.” Another posted: “Professional and perfect reply. Fairs Jamie.” While a third commented: “Perfect response to be honest.”

Salah has been in sensational form for Liverpool this season, notching 21 goals and 17 assists in just 27 appearances – putting him in contention for Golden Shoot.
