A popular children’s store in Bathgate is set to close its doors.
Kidzeco has announced that its store in George Street will close at the end of January after having a store within the town for more than a decade.
Writing on social media, Kidzeco stated: “It is with deep regret that we announce the forthcoming closure of our Kidzeco store in Bathgate. After nearly 15 years of being rooted in the heart of the Bathgate community, we have reached the end of our lease term.
“Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to negotiate a new lease agreement with the landlord.
Our last day of trading at the Bathgate store will be Friday, January 31.
“Please note that all classes currently advertised will continue to run until this date.
“Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to accept donations at our Bathgate store.
We know how devastating this news will be for the many families who have relied on our store, attended our groups and classes, and supported us over the years.
“Please be assured that we remain fully committed to our mission, and we will continue to explore opportunities to secure alternative premises.
“In the meantime, our Kidzeco Livingston store and Kidz n Kin will remain open and operating as normal, and we look forward to welcoming you there.
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of our Bathgate journey – our dedicated staff, valued partners, generous funders, and most importantly, the parents, children, and families who have supported us for the past 15 years. Your unwavering encouragement and belief in our vision have made everything we do possible.”
Members of the community took to Facebook to show their sadness at the closure of Kidzeco.
Natasha Low stated: “I don’t have the words to describe how devastated I am.
“There’s no words to describe how grateful I am that I got to be a part of an amazing team for so long, who helped me through some of the toughest times in my life.
“I started volunteering as a quiet timid person (don’t laugh) I never in my dreams wheen I started I’d be on shop floor interacting with customer when I started.
“You guys gave me the confidence to grow as a person and I’ll never forget that so thank you Kidzeco Bathgate for the memories.”
Harry Cartmill added: “So sorry to hear Kidzeco is closing. You have provided so many in need with such a sterling service.”
Finally, Michelle Kelly said: “Such a sad loss to the community. Kidzeco has played an important part in the upbringing of my three children.”
