The Antonio Pierce era is over in Las Vegas.

The Raiders fired Pierce on Tuesday after going 4-13 in his lone season as the full-time head coach.

Pierce, a former Giants linebacker, is the third NFL head coach to be fired since the regular season ended Sunday.

“Antonio grew up a Raiders fan and his Silver and Black roots run deep,” the Raiders said in a statement. “We are grateful for his ability to reignite what it means to be a Raider throughout the entire organization. We wish nothing but the best for Antonio and his family in the future.”

Pierce, 46, went 5-4 as the Raiders’ interim head coach in 2023 after the midseason firing of Josh McDaniels.

Multiple players, including defensive end Maxx Crosby and wide receiver Davante Adams, advocated for Pierce to get the full-time job, and Vegas hired him last offseason as the 23rd head coach in franchise history.

But the Raiders failed to build on last year’s late-season surge, beginning the 2024 campaign just 2-12 before winning two of their last three games.

Following a Week 3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Pierce suggested multiple players “made business decisions” during the 36-22 defeat. He later apologized for those comments.

That proved to be the final game Adams played with the Raiders before being traded to the Jets.

The Raiders are set to pick No. 6 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft after using a revolving door of Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell and Desmond Ridder at quarterback last season.

Pierce, who hails from the Los Angeles area, played five of his nine NFL seasons with the Giants. He was a Pro Bowler in 2006 and a key member of the 2007 team that won Super Bowl XLII against the previously undefeated New England Patriots.

Tuesday’s development came two days after New England fired Jerod Mayo after one season as head coach, and a day after the Jacksonville Jaguars fired Doug Pederson after three seasons.

Those teams join the Jets, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears, who all fired their head coaches during the season.
