Rangers striker Danilo has had a rollercoaster season following his return from a long-term injury. And off the pitch, the Ibrox star has experienced a significant life event.

Since his return two months ago, Danilo has finally managed to maintain a steady performance and has netted five goals since his comeback. Away from football, Danilo has shared a poignant moment with his social media followers.

The forward is deeply religious, often posting motivational messages and bible verses on Instagram with his followers. It appears the £6 million Brazilian has taken a trip to Scotland to share his faith in a very poignant way.

Danilo, 25, has uploaded a series of videos on his Instagram story, revealing his baptism in Scotland. A pastor flew in from the striker’s home country of Brazil, all the way from IPLTM Templo do Fogo (Temple of Fire) located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro.

In a video shared on the footballer‘s social media, the pastor is seen performing the baptism ceremony, immersing Danilo in water and exclaiming: “Hallelujah!”

The exact location of the baptism has not been disclosed, however it is evidently a loch in Scotland as noted in the stunning scenery but as you would expect, the water was at freezing temperatures.

The pastor declared: “Today a new man was born, even with the cold waters Danilo decided to die for the world and live for Christ. Jesus will always be the centre.”

The Rangers star was visibly moved after the experience. Photos shared by the pastor on his own social media reveal that Danilo’s Ibrox teammate Jefte was also present for his pal’s significant moment.

On social media, Danilo celebrated his special day. He expressed: “What a wonderful day, glory to God for all of this. Thank you pastor for being able to make this unique moment happen.”

Danilo was a hefty £6million acquisition for Rangers in the summer transfer window of 2023, joining from Dutch heavyweights Feyenoord.

However, his debut season in Glasgow was plagued by persistent injuries. He made a comeback from a severe knee injury in mid-August and was visibly moved when he scored against Ross County. Yet, that match, only his second of the season, turned out to be his last until November as he tragically needed another surgery.
