Royal Mail has alerted the public to potential hold-ups in their service, as numerous households across Scotland may encounter postal disruptions.
Customers in over 30 UK postcodes are at risk of experiencing these delays. Earlier today, Royal Mail reported “significant disruption” within four significant areas.
The latest updates confirm a significant impact on various locations including Barrhead and Glasgow. Customers in affected postcode areas should anticipate potential delays.
The carrier’s facilities in Gatwick, London Central, Manchester, Preston, and the South Midlands failed to process or dispatch mail as per their normal schedule during the previous weekend.
A notice on its website informed: “The mail centres below reported not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule over the past weekend. As a result, some mail may be delivered later than planned.”
Whilst typically operating from Monday to Saturday, with first-class mail arriving the following day and second-class in two days, Royal Mail does face periodic setbacks. These can be attributed to complications within their air, road, rail, or mail centre operations, among other localised issues.
Royal Mail stated that almost a dozen delivery offices nationwide have been impaired by local troubles, stretching the number of affected postcodes to 14 more. The company’s website says varying factors, including heightened sick leave, staffing challenges, or other local circumstances, may temporarily influence their delivery services.
The statement read: “In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers. We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”
