Britney Spears is going to be “very involved” in the upcoming biopic based on the former pop star’s best-selling memoir “The Woman In Me.”

During a red carpet appearance at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, director Jon M. Chu said Spears will have a hand in the Universal Pictures production.

“She’s going to be very involved,” Chu told Entertainment Tonight. “I haven’t really started anything fully yet, but she will be very involved in this. I have ideas and things, an approach, but it’s very early.”

Although Spears has become more of an attention-grabbing social media staple than a recording artist in recent years, the 43-year-old scored a major hit when the hotly-anticipated 2023 tome sold 1.1 million copies in its first week.

“I poured my heart and soul into my memoir, and I am grateful to my fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support,” the Grammy Award winner said in a statement about the book’s sales.

Chu, who directed the film adaptations of “Wicked” and “In the Heights,” revealed in November that the script for the film was not written yet — and that no writer was attached. He did add that the initial concept expected is “a lot about how we treat people, young people, stars that we think we own, women, mothers.”

On Sunday, he shared his adoration for the “Toxic” singer — who ascended to modern-day folk hero status amid the “Free Britney” movement that preceded the end of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021.

“I’m a big fan of Britney,” Chu told Billboard. “I’ve been a fan since I was young and she was young and she was one of 12 acts at the Shrine Auditorium. So I want to do her justice and tell her story right. But we’ll see. We’re developing it now and it’s a long road ahead.”
