A heartbroken family are aiming to give a Bathgate woman the send-off she deserves following her sudden death.
Mum-of-one Cathy Goldie passed away on December 23 with her family describing her as a “beautiful character”.
Cathy’s sister Margaret Strange has thanked locals who tried to save her sister before emergency crews arrived on the scene.
She said: “She was an amazing happy woman that always made everyone smile.
“She was a beautiful character in Bathgate and everyone knew her.
“She has left a son that now has to and wants to give her the best send off that he can.
“I don’t think there is many people from Bathgate and the surrounding areas that wouldn’t have a story to tell her about Cathy.
“People tried so hard to save her until paramedics got to the scene but sadly she couldn’t be saved.”
Aside from spending time with her family, Cathy enjoyed spending her free time at the Livery Lounge in Bathgate.
Writing on social media, the Livery said: “We are heartbroken that a wonderful gem has gained her wings.
“We would like to pass on our condolences to her family at this sad time.
“She was such a character at times and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace Cathy Goldie.”
A fundraising page has been set up to help Cathy’s family pay for funeral costs.
The page was set up by her nephew Taylor Goldie with over £300 being raised so far.
Writing on the page, Taylor said: “The last thing I really wanted to do what come to do this but we have been left in a little bit of a position where we are unable to fund her funeral all by ourselves.
“Anyone who knew Cathy was touched by her presence and she made every single person fall in love with her!
“She was a Livery legend and can’t thank them enough for always looking after her and making her life amazing while she was here.
“Nothing goes unnoticed it’s all appreciated thank you for taking the time to listen to us.”
