Good Morning Britain turned awkward on Wednesday as presenter Susanna Reid was scolded during an interview.
In the recent episode, 54-year-old Susanna and her co-host Ed Balls chatted with Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, where Susanna faced criticism for posing what was deemed a ‘stupid question’.
Susanna questioned Errol, 79, regarding his son Elon, 53, the billionaire owner of companies such as X, Tesla, and Starlink, asking: “I’m very interested, Errol, firstly in your analysis of your own son, Elon, is he a genius or completely bonkers?”
To which Errol sharply retorted: “Of course he’s a genius, that’s ridiculous, what a stupid question!” Susanna then added: “Well, people have asked if he is in fact a madman and certainly there’s a degree of madness in being a genius! When did you last speak to him, when did you last spend time with him?”
Errol answered: “I last spent time with him at the launch of Starship a few months ago, I live away from him, I’m 10,000 miles from him but I was with him at the launch of Starship a few months ago”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
When inquired about the current state of his relationship with Elon, Errol noted: “Very good, very very good, as good as a father wants it to be”, further mentioning: “I’m just his father, I’m there to give him advice if he asks for it that’s all!”
It comes as Susanna opened up about her extended absence from Good Morning Britain.
Back in early December, Susanna shared her appreciation for her audiences and announced her departure from the programme for a considerable winter break.
Following a three-week break, Susanna announced to her followers on Sunday that she will return to television screens on Monday.
She shared a cozy photo of a flickering candle on Instagram with the caption: “Happy New Year! See you on Monday.”
Susanna also debuted a new look, revealing she had opted for longer hair during her time off by sharing a selfie.
The presenter wrote: “NEW YEAR NEW HAIR! After having THE CHOP in 2023, pop idol Cher told me women should keep their long hair so I am turning back time and going LONG for 2025 with hair extensions put in by @christinabhair. Let me know what you think – and see you tomorrow @gmb.”
During her festive break away from Good Morning Britain, Kate Garraway filled in for Susanna, presenting alongside Richard Madeley.
Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on both ITV and ITV X.
