A primary school in Patna is celebrating a positive report card on its education provision.
St. Xavier’s Primary School, in Whitehill Avenue, has been praised after it was placed under the microscope during an East Ayrshire Education learning review.
In the review the school was described as having created a “safe and nurturing environment” in which children learn.
ASN (additional support needs) were said to be “well structured and organised,” while the head teacher, Amanda Rooney, (ASN lead) also developed “sound methods” for tracking and monitoring pupil developments and the impact of interventions.
And the school “understood” the importance of high quality learning and teaching to “achieve equity and promote the wellbeing of all.”
Partnerships between the school, local community and parent body were “strong” and “high expectations” were set for pupils who “respond positively” to learning opportunities that are “well planned and engaging.”
And the praise continued as parents were said to be “very happy” with the current leadership at the school and the “direction” of the school.
And high aspirations were “evident” throughout the whole school too.
News of the positive review have been warmly welcomed by the St. Xavier’s Primary School Parent Council.
A spokesperson said: “As a parent council of St. Xavier’s Primary School we are absolutely delighted with this report from East Ayrshire Education learning reviewers.
“We want to shout it from the rooftops! The school is small and has a family feel to it, all the staff go above and beyond to make our children feel safe, happy and educated.
“The Head teacher had been overseeing another school in Kilmarnock for half the year as well and still brought fresh fruit each week for the children and their families, food bags for all families in the school, covered classes due to staffing issues, helped at after school cooking club every Thursday, even taking kids to sing at the Christmas Fayre in Dalmellington!
“She does so much for our school and our families and takes no praise, She will not tell you what she does but we see it, and appreciate it all.”
The spokesperson added: “All the children are clever, polite, have fantastic manners and want to be involved in shaping the school and their local community.
“As a school they tend to be overlooked, with the Pupil Council of the school asking East Ayrshire Council for a sign out the front of the campus, so people will know that our school is in the Patna Campus.
“They had a great HMI inspection in 2017 so this report isn’t a fluke. As a school it’s consistently exceeding expectations and if I know the Headteacher, her staff, the kids and the parents they will continue to do so, they deserve this recognition and this report.”
