Two people have been arrested following an alleged early-hours serious assault at the Four Corners in Glasgow.

Police were called to a disturbance on the city centre’s Jamaica Street at around 3am on Wednesday, January 8. Officers attended but there was no trace of anyone involved.

The area was shut down on Wednesday morning as the street was taped off by cops. Detectives have since confirmed that two men, both aged 30, have been arrested in connection.

Inquiries remain ongoing to identify and trace two further men believed to be involved in the incident. Images from the scene show a large cordon in place with multiple police officers in attendance.

Sergeant David McIntosh said: “We’d like to thank the public for their patience and understanding as officers carried out their work in the area. Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious on Jamaica Street in the early hours of this morning, or has any information on the incident, should call police on 101, quoting incident 0291 of January 8.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
