TOWN OF WESCOTT, Wis. (WBAY/Gray News) – A van fell through ice on a lake while delivering food to a fisherman in Wisconsin.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday about a vehicle that had gone through the ice on Shawano Lake.
The driver was able to get out of the van and walk away before police arrived. Deputies eventually found the driver who said there was no one else in the van.
Deputies learned the driver was delivering food to a fisherman who was ice fishing.
The driver was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. When he was released, he was arrested and taken to jail on an unrelated matter.
As of Tuesday night, the van has not been removed from the frozen lake.
