Jazmine Rizo set up a GoFundMe, saying it was to help the family give Emily “the memorial she so deeply deserves.” She described the 11-year-old as vibrant, compassionate and joyful.

“Emily Ramirez was a bright and joyful little girl with a heart full of love,” wrote Rizo on GoFundMe. “Her laughter was infectious and her kindness touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impact on all our lives. Though her time with us was short, her spirit and memories will forever remain in our hearts.”

Following the crash, the driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation. Authorities said neither speed nor impairment appeared to be factors.

Rizo wrote on GoFundMe that Emily was hit by a “distracted driver.”

A neighbor told KOLD a group of neighborhood children had recently started riding scooters and playing together in the area.
