The Traitors fans were on the edge of their seats during last night’s nail-biting episode (January 8), which saw a dramatic comeback from three contestants who had selflessly bowed out in the season’s opener.

The first episode of the third series which aired January 1 showed Jack, Fozia, and Alexander voluntarily disembarking from the train to Ardross Castle, seemingly giving up their chance in the competition. But in an unexpected turn of events in last night’s show, they re-entered via a ‘rail replacement’ carriage, although only two could stay in the game.

In the latest challenge, the contestants needed to gather gold coins to lower the two individuals they wanted back in the game. The first pair to touch down would be reinstated. Fozia and Alexander won over their peers, leaving Jack suspended and eliminated once again.

Post-episode, Jack, a 25-year-old landscaper, confessed he was ‘holding back tears’ while trapped in the cage, reports Wales Online.

“I quite liked swinging in the cage up there. I’m very much a Leo in that I quite like being the centre of attention. Then very quickly it became less fun and as every second went by, it got less and less and less fun. And then I was out of the competition,” he revealed.

“I was fully holding back tears because I’d put my heart and soul into getting there. I know it’s so unrealistic to go into a competition with the mindset of, I’m going to win this but, but you’re in that bubble at that time. You’ve got to be in it to win it. You’ve got to have a that attitude. Otherwise, what’s the point in taking part? Honestly and thoroughly, I believed I was going to win.”

Before joining The Traitors, Jack had aspirations to play the game as a Traitor. Although he works as a landscaper, he revealed a secret passion for acting, with show fans already spotting him in an ad for Luton Airport Express and his role in the Amazon Prime movie, The Apocalypse Box.

He shared with the BBC: “I have secretly trained as an actor. I moved to London when I was 18, moved away from Yorkshire and I didn’t really tell too many of my family and friends that that’s what I was going to do, because I think there’s a bit of a stigma around it in the area that I live in, people think ‘Oh he wants to go off and chase the acting dream.’

“So, I think I’m used to being put into situations which are hostile and unfamiliar. I think I can kind of play it a little bit dumb, maybe act like the ditzy gardener and landscaper who secretly has his own agenda, and hopefully a couple of acting skills to back that up.”

The Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer
