Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest-born son of Victoria and David Beckham, has shared a heartfelt message alongside images of the devastating wildfires near his Los Angeles home- which he shares with wife Nicola Peltz.
The fires have resulted in numerous celebrities, including Paris Hilton, When Harry Met Sally star Billy Crystal and Oscar-winning songwriter Diane Warren, losing their homes and declaring a state of emergency in the city.
The photo shared by British born Brooklyn was taken from a high-rise building overlooking the blaze. However, the exact location of Brooklyn and Nicola’s current residence remains unknown after they sold their $11 million Beverly Hills mansion in 2023.
In a previous interview with Cosmopolitan, Nicola said: “We did have a house in LA at one point, but we sold it because we were like, ‘Oh, we’re going to go to Florida for a while’. And then we’re like, ‘No, just kidding, we have to be in LA for work. ‘ It was so silly of us. But we both honestly love New York so much. If our work was there, we’d be there in five seconds.”
Brooklyn Beckham took to Instagram, using his significant platform of 16.3 million followers to share critical safety information for Los Angeles residents amidst raging wildfires.
The 25-year-old animal enthusiast amplified content from Palisades Fire Animal Resources, including details on evacuation centres, pet-friendly hotel discounts, and tips for pet protection during the crisis.
His mother, Victoria Beckham, expressed her heartfelt connection to L. A on Thursday, telling her 33.9 million Instagram followers: “Seeing the devastation and loss caused by these wildfires is truly heartbreaking. Los Angeles holds such a special place in our family’s hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, especially those who have lost their homes or loved ones.
“We are immensely grateful to the brave firefighters and first responders who are risking their lives to protect others. Please stay safe and look after each other during this devastating time. Victoria x.”
David Beckham also joined the online community sharing his support, extending his “gratitude to the first responders and emergency services for their courage in such a challenging situation”.
The football legend, who previously resided in L. A when he played for LA Galaxy from 2007 to 2012, leveraged his influence to underscore the valour of emergency personnel amid these trying times.
The father-of-four wrote on Instagram: “LA is such a special place for my family. I’m heartbroken to wake up to more horrific stories and pictures and I’m thinking of everyone there including many friends and colleagues who are facing these devastating fires.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected, their loved ones and sending gratitude to the first responders and emergency services for their courage in such a challenging situation. Sending all my love and please support organisations helping on the ground.”
Thousands of firefighters were battling the original Palisades fire, with at least 70,000 residents forced to flee their homes as the city was engulfed in a dense haze of smoke and ash.
A fresh blaze erupted in the Hollywood Hills, endangering numerous iconic landmarks including the Walk of Fame and Hollywood Bowl, which has evacuated its staff, while strong winds fanned the flames, posing further threats to properties and lives.
Over 1,400 firefighters were actively engaged on the front lines, supported by 267 fire engines and nine helicopters, as reported by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. Governor Gavin Newsom expressed his gratitude to US President Joe Biden for his “swift response and aid to California as we work to battle these unprecedented wildfires”.
Last month, a wind-driven fire known as the Franklin Fire forced residents of Malibu, including celebrities like Dick Van Dyke, Cher and Jane Seymour, to evacuate their homes. The blaze consumed over 4,000 acres.
On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Fire Department lifted evacuation orders in some areas but maintained them in the Hollywood Boulevard area.
