Celtic kid Lenny Agbaire has pledged to end the season as he started – by making his mark at Somerset Park.

The Parkhead youth prospect was part of Brendan Rodgers’ squad which visited Ayr in July.

Centre half Agbaire played the majority of that glamour friendly which ended in a 1-1 draw and went up against United stars George Oakley and Anton Dowds.

Now the 19-year-old is joining Scott Brown’s revolution for the rest of the campaign in a bid to help them reach the top flight.

Agbaire told the Ayrshire Post: “I remember that night well and it was a good test against George and Anton. Now I’m looking forward to coming here and being part of the team and playing for the manager.

“Obviously I know all about what he did for Celtic and what a legend he is there. So it was a no brainer for me to come here and work under him.

“He’s been very clear that he wants me to come here and help the team aim for the top.”

Agbaire is highly regarded in Glasgow’s East End and penned a new two-year deal in 2024.

Celts chiefs are hoping the Somerset loan will prove the next spell in his development towards first team football.

Agbaire added: “Getting out and getting proper men’s football and playing for something each week will be massive for me.

“The Championship is a good league and it’s a great opportunity for me over these next few months.”

His signing comes after yesterday’s loan capture of Rangers starlet Cole McKinnon as Ayr strengthen for their title push in the second half of the campaign.

Boss Brown is still keen to add another striker and continues to cast the net in search of an option to add more competition up top.

United’s trip to Dunfermline this Saturday is in grave danger of falling to the weather, with the winter blast currently hitting Scotland.
