Police say power lines were severed and a railroad crossing was damaged in the chain reaction crash.

KYLE, Texas — A man has been arrested and charged following a crash in Kyle.

According to Kyle police, the 25-year-old man was driving Wednesday night on Center Street when he hit a utility pole.

The crash caused power lines to fall, which were then hit by another vehicle that flipped over. Minutes later, an oncoming train hit and severed the power lines and the railroad crossing.

Police arrested the man following the crash and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated. Police said both vehicles suffered significant damage and that power and communication services were disrupted for customers before being restored.

Meanwhile, officials said Union Pacific will repair the crossing arms damaged by the crash and urge drivers not to drive around the barricades and follow the detours. The crossing is expected to reopen on Friday afternoon.
