Traitors star Leanne Quigley has been battling a secret heartbreak off screen as she took to Instagram tonight with an emotional post to reveal that her fiancé has beaten cancer.
The North Wales army veteran, who is currently starring on season three of the BBC show as a Faithful, has kept quiet about her time on the front line as an ex-soldier with the rest of her co-stars.
The 28-year-old has also not yet mentioned her female fiancé Sophie Jones or their two twin boys on the show.
Taking to Instagram, Leanne announced to her followers that the ‘mother of my children’ Sophie had been given the all clear after she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in July last year.
In a tear-jerking post, she shared a black and white selfie of her with Sophie and another of them holding hands. In her caption, she wrote: “This is the only news we needed and wanted. On the 31st July 2024 my partner, and the mother of my children was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer.
“Watching the person you love fight through chemotherapy is up there with the worst things on earth. We quickly learnt to never take anything for granted ever again, and sadly had to learn that tomorrow is never promised and fear of the unknown literally killed us inside.
“Yesterday, Wednesday 8th January 2025, the strongest woman on planet earth was told she is cancer free. She did it. I cannot express or put in to words how proud I am, and how in awe I am of her strength every single day.
“Today we begin to truly celebrate us, our boys, and the excitement of the rest of our lives. I could never thank the NHS enough for quite literally saving my whole family. And the biggest thank you to our support system, we’re so lucky to be surrounded by the most incredible family and friends.
“For anybody fighting, or for anybody watching their loved ones fight this horrible disease. I see you and I feel you. Please don’t give up.”
The couple tied the knot in August last year, a month after Sophie’s cancer diagnosis. Instagram posts from the time show Leanne’s fiancé getting down on one knee to propose during a romantic boat trip.
The Traitors star has since shared smiley snaps of her posing with her huge rock as she wrote: A thousand times YES. Mrs Jones pending.”
The pair also share two baby boys together named Hudson and Harley, who are celebrating their joint second birthdays today. Leanne gave birth to the twins on January 9 2023 after the brothers came into the world three and a half months early.
In an Instagram post at the time, she announced her sons had arrived prematurely as she shared some black and white photos of their tiny hands and feet. She wrote: “We took some time to figure out if we should share our news, but our babies are here are here fighting and they deserve all the love and prayers they can get.
“My perfect twin boys I love you more than I ever thought possible, let’s get you stronger and take you home.”
Harley and Hudson were finally able to come home with their mothers 91 days after their birth with Leanne marking the special moment on April 12 2023 with a social media post.
In terms of Leanne’s career, she has also shared some throwback snaps from her time in the army, announcing her “next chapter” as she left the British Army in October 2024 after serving for 12 years.
The 28-year-old has chosen to withhold her career from her fellow Traitors co-stars, which is perhaps a good idea, given she has unknowingly befriended Traitor Minah Shannon who has had all of the contestants fooled so far.
Leanne was awarded a shield by newcomer Fozia for her efforts at keeping her safe during the most recent challenge which made her exempt from murder on tonight’s episode.
The second new contestant Alexander has also joined the rest of the gang at Ardross Castle as they try and fish out the Traitors among them.
The Traitors continues on Friday Jan 10 on BBC at 9pm.
