A Scone Army Cadet Force officer has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours’ List for her dedication and service spanning more than 30 years.

Lieutenant Colonel Kathleen Douglas was awarded the honour for Services to the Army Cadet Force.

The Deputy Commandant of The Black Watch Battalion was recognised for her exceptional dedication and contributions to the Army Cadet Force.

She has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) alongside other inspirational figures from across the region.

Her career spans over three and a half decades. Lieutenant Colonel Douglas was said to have shown unwavering commitment to the development of young people and the support of her fellow Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.

Major Michael McCluskey of the Black Watch Battalion, Army Cadet Force, hailed Lt Col Douglas for her years of hard work.

He added: “Her tireless efforts have helped shape the lives of countless cadets, providing them with invaluable skills, confidence, and opportunities.

“Throughout her 36 years of service, she has held numerous leadership roles, demonstrating exemplary dedication to the Army Cadet Force.”

Other Perthshire recipients of New Year Honours are:

■Chef and chairperson of the Master Chefs of Great Britain George McIvor, from Auchterarder, was given an OBE for services to the catering and tourism industries, and to charitable fundraising

■ Former Scottish Fire and Rescue Service chief Ross Haggart from Perth has received a CBE in the King’s New Year Honours List.

■Major (Rtd) Kevin Gibson Lamb, from Perth, founder of the Wind Band Association got an OBE for services to music.

■The founder of Zero Suicide Alliance Stephen Timothy Mallen, from Crieff, was awarded a CBE for services to mental health and suicide prevention.
