Two small business owners have announced plans for a new cattery in Monkton – boasting live web cams to see how your pet is doing.
Eric and Fiona Manson have unveiled proposals for the business via a planning application and earmarked their garden, in the village’s Main Street, as the proposed site.
If approved, then The Cottage Cattery would operate cat boarding facilities at 1 Main Street for up to 20 cats within a 10-pen unit.
It will be sited in a garden and the applicants says their mission will be to provide “high quality” boarding accommodation for those who require it.
In a supporting statement from the agents, Avant Architecture, they said: “The Cottage Cattery is a new cattery looking to open in Monkton, Ayrshire. We are seeking to provide accommodation for up to 20 cats in a 10-pen unit, which will allow travellers to and from Prestwick Airport to access convenient, flexible boarding for their cats within a high quality environment.
“This will be in addition to providing cattery boarding and care for a wide range of pet owners. This is a brand new business, which will strive to offer high end care at affordable prices and add to the local economy.”
The company will be co-owned by Eric and Fiona Manson who plan to offer “first class boarding facilities” to their clients- including the opportunity to see your cat on a live web cam.
The supporting statement said: “We will be partners in the company and make all business related decisions collaboratively.
“As small business owners we feel that this partnership is the fairest and most effective legal structure for taxation, management and decision making purposes.
“This will be a brand new cattery building within the garden of our home in Monkton. The home is owned by us and is sited within extensive gardens. We will work within all required legal standards to provide 10 pens which will meet legal requirements.
“At The Cottage Cattery our mission is to take great personal care of your cat/s in the best possible way when you are not able to.
“We will do this by providing first class boarding facilities with modern purpose designed and built cattery accommodation. We will ensure a loving, safe, nurturing and fun environment for your cat.
“We will offer flexible access to your cat’s accommodation to meet your needs, and for your peace of mind we will offer individual web cams for you to check in with your pet.”
The planning application is listed as ‘pending consideration’ on South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal and a decision is expected in early March.
