It’s been over three years since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, and now Oprah has made a significant 10-word comment following the announcement of Meghan’s new Netflix series.
The Duchess of Sussex revealed her upcoming show, ‘With Love, Meghan’, on her fresh Instagram account, accompanied by a trailer that captures her engaging in various homely pursuits such as selecting flowers, collecting honey, baking bread, and cooking.
Described by Netflix as an “inspiring series” that will refresh lifestyle programming by combining practical tips with heartfelt discussions with both new and familiar faces, the show promises to be a unique blend. Among the guests set to feature are Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer, Meghan’s colleague from her days on ‘Suits’.
The series will consist of eight episodes, each lasting 33 minutes.
Following the reveal, television icon Oprah showed her support on social media, informing her 3.4 million followers on @Oprahdaily: “We’re about to see more of Meghan Markle in 2025! The Duchess of Sussex announced she will have a new cooking show on Netflix. Tap the link in our bio to watch the trailer and find out when you can tune in. (It’s sooner than you think! ).”
The response to Oprah’s post was polarised, with some fans expressing excitement for Meghan’s project, while others were clear they had no intention of watching, reports the Mirror.
One individual questioned: “I’m happy she’s doing her life on her own terms. Just curious, someone who madly wanted privacy and retreating from the world’s eyes opening her IFG account and then a cooking show. Why? Trying to understand her. Imagine Princess Di fighting for her privacy, starting a cooking show on Netflix.”
Another person inquired: “Oprah what is your involvement with MM? You are so invested in this young woman. What has she done to earn such support from the all-mighty Oprah Winfrey empire? I’m sure there are many underfunded young women entrepreneurs that would love your support and financial backing.”
However, another commenter expressed excitement: “Can’t wait to watch it. Love Meghan, she is an inspiration to many.”
The news emerges amidst challenging times for Meghan, who revealed on Tuesday the sad passing of her rescue dog Guy. She had welcomed him into her home back in 2015 while residing in Canada.
Sharing the sorrowful news on her Instagram, Meghan partly wrote: “In Memory of Guy. In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love.”
She explained the choice of his name, saying: “They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”
She went on to say: “I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”
Adding further, she said, “Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
