Two Ayr business stalwarts have handed over the keys to one of the town’s longest running stores.
Tommy McMillan and his wife Lillian were the hugely popular faces of wallpaper and paints business L&T Decor in Dalblair Road for the past 29 years.
The pair bought out Bert Martin of Martin and McNicol in 1996 to start their business and never looked back. Lillian was a rep for wallpaper manufacturer Vymura while Tommy came from a background in coach building.
Now the top duo have passed the torch to staff members Naomi Cox, Abbe Cusack and Eilidh Callan, who are leading a rebirth of their business under the brand new name of Wallflowers.
Tommy explained: “We were able to build a loyal customer base over the 29 years and we’d like to think that was based on friendly service, the amazing choice of products and unrivalled industry knowledge.
“We were able to survive and thrive through the banking crash and covid years, and finally decided it is time to take a well earned retirement.”
Thankfully, the legacy of L&T is able to live on into 2025 with Tommy and Lilian’s staff taking over the premises and giving it a rebrand.
Tommy added: “It has a fresh new look but still the same excellent range of products and outstanding customer service.”
