It has been a quiet transfer window so far for Rangers in terms of incomings – but Philippe Clement has continued his rebuild of the squad by moving on some Ibrox fringe men.
Cole McKinnon is the latest reserve star to head out the exit door on loan for Ayr United – with Robbie Fraser also heading out on loan to the Scottish Championship with Livingston. The back-up brigade could further be picked apart amid reports that Adam Devine could follow the Colt team duo out of the door permanently with just six months remaining on his contract.
Reports in England suggest that Birmingham City are said to be considering a January move for the 21-year-old – who has failed to make a first-team appearance in 16 months. The Daily Mail also note that Alex Lowry could be moved on this month having failed to make his mark under Clement. The 21-year-old made a top team appearance for the club in December 2023 – and has now entered the final six months of his contract.
But who could Rangers look to move on to boost the coffers? Well, Kevin Thomson reckons Cyriel Dessers could be heading out the door with Cagliari showing interest.
The frontman started the campaign as the first-choice frontman at Ibrox but has rapidly fallen out the plans since the emergence of Hamza Igamane. Tutto Mercato Web report the Serie A side want a loan move with an option to buy but the Light Blues are pushing for a £4m sale this month.
Asked if the striker is a player that could command a decent fee, Thomson told the BBC’s Scottish Football podcast: “I think so. The Old Firm gives you a brilliant platform.
“I think Dessers is a good asset to the club. I think his record is there for all to see, albeit he is not playing at the moment, but he scores goals. He has a good profile and is at a good age. I think these players that put the ball in the back of the net do become a bit more valuable. I think for the club they want to get as much money as possible, and I do think Dessers is one that will fetch the club some money.”
Trabzonspor are reportedly keen on Ridvan Yilmaz – but they face competition to land the left-back from Besiktas. According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, new Besiktas manager Serdar Topraktepe has put Yilmaz on the club’s ‘transfer list’.
Yilmaz made the move to Glasgow for £3.4m from the Istanbul side. The defender has been deployed at right-back in recent weeks and it remains to be seen if Nils Koppen and Clement would be willing to sell at this stage.
One man who looks unlikely to leave is Ianis Hagi. The Romanian has revived his Rangers’ career having been out of the picture at the start of the campaign.
But that doesn’t appear to have halted interest from Genoa. Digi Sport report that the Serie A side – owned by Romanian Dan Țucu – are considering a lowball £1.2m offer to test the Light Blues’ resolve.
