Police said the man was wanted in connection to a murder in El Salvador.
LAKEWAY, Texas — A man wanted in connection to a murder in El Salvador has been captured outside of Austin.
On Tuesday, Lakeway police said Luis Manuel Hernandez Bonilla was pulled over on Ranch Road 620 during a traffic stop.
Police said Hernandez Bonilla had defective brake lamps on the 2007 Toyota Tundra he was driving, which led to the stop. That’s when they learned he was wanted in El Salvador in connection to a murder.
Hernandez Bonilla is reported to be an MS-13 gang member and was arrested without incident.
Lakeway police said they’re dedicated to safety and service through various methods, including traffic enforcement looking beyond the traffic tickets by finding other criminal behavior.
