AUSTIN, Texas — A man has been arrested following a bomb threat at an H-E-B near Lake Travis.
According to Austin police, the man called police around 8 a.m. Friday saying there was a bomb in his vehicle and that the H-E-B on FM 620 and 4 Points Drive needed to be evacuated.
H-E-B management evacuated the store and temporarily closed the location as officers investigated. The Austin Police Department’s Bomb Squad determined there was no explosive before giving an all clear.
Police said the man, identified as 44-year-old Gerard Hayes, was later arrested at an unidentified location. Meanwhile, police also said Friday’s bomb threat was a direct result of an incident involving Hayes two days ago, but didn’t elaborate on what the incident was.
Hayes now faces a felony terroristic threat charge. Police said Hayes was the owner of the vehicle, which has since been impounded.
H-E-B reopened the store once authorities determined the parking lot was clear. No injuries were reported during the incident.
