Rangers are ready to cash in on Cyriel Dessers this month with preliminary talks with interested clubs underway, according to a report.

The striker has fallen down the pecking order under Philippe Clement with Hamza Igamane and Danilo preferred to the Nigeria international in recent times. Reports overnight from Italy stated that Serie A pair Cagliari and Empoli are both keen on the striker but the Rangers Review state no contact has been made with either at this stage.

Dessers was a big money capture from Cremonese under Michael Beale’s reign but despite 12 goals and four assists in all competitions this season, he has found minutes hard to come by and it now appears his time in Govan could be coming to an end before the window shuts with a deal ready to be done if the price is right.

Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart is due to deliver an address to the fans on the state of play for January amongst other hot topics. Clement is feeling the heat once more after his side dropped 15 points behind Celtic at the Premiership summit.

The Light Blues’ poor away record continued last night at Dens Park as they played out a 1-1 draw with Dundee. It means the Ibrox side have picked up just 13 points from 33 on their travels this campaign with Record Sport’s Chris Sutton telling the Belgian the Hoops are laughing at his side while Kris Boyd has told Clement he’s ‘done’ at the club.
