A pensioner was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car.

The 76-year-old woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment following the horror collision in Nethermains Road, Denny, Falkirk, on Thursday afternoon.

Police closed the road there after the incident, which happened shortly after 3pm.

The driver of the white Suzuki SX4 car involved is uninjured.

A 38-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and enquiries are ongoing.

Road policing officers are now appealing for information.

Constable Ian Marshall, of the Road Policing Unit in Stirling, said: “An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident.
