Police officers shot a man in Brooklyn Friday evening.

According to police sources, around 9:50 p.m. cops fired at least six shots at a man in front of 754 E. 80th St. at Flatlands Ave. in Canarsie, hitting him once in the stomach. He was reported not likely to die.

No shots were fired at the officers. Four cops were treated at Kings County Hospital for trauma and ringing in the ears from the gunfire.

According to the sources, cops were at the location because they were investigating an incident from earlier in the evening in which a woman was shot in the thigh a few blocks away. The victim was reportedly in stable condition.

That earlier incident is related to the subsequent police-involved shooting, the sources said, adding that the earlier shooting may be gang related.

As for why cops fired at the man, the sources said it’s possible he might have pulled a gun, but that was not immediately confirmed.
