CHASE COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW/Gray News) – A semitruck driver escaped potentially serious injury after a flying ice chunk flew off the top of a van into the windshield.

The Chase County Sheriff’s Office shared footage on social media of the Jan. 9 incident that occurred on U.S. Highway 50 in Kansas.

According to the sheriff’s office, the truck driver had minor cuts from the glass, but he refused transportation to the hospital.

“Folks, we can all do a little better at cleaning the snow and ice off of our vehicles before traveling. This video will show you why this is necessary,” the Chase County Sheriff’s Office said in a reminder to other drivers.
