Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has landed a surprise new coaching role just two weeks after getting the sack.
The former England international was relieved of his duties by Plymouth Argyle after just five wins in 25 games at the helm. His latest managerial venture ended with the Devon side rock bottom of the Championship, giving the club hierarchy no choice but to cut and run.
The 39-year-old was linked with a reunion with David Moyes at Everton but instead he has ventured to sunnier parts as a coaching as a new ambassador for Football Escapes. It involves teaching football to the next generation at a kid’s training camp.
Rooney will travel to Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Hotel from February 17 to the 21st for his new roles. The official website reads: “At Football Escapes, we offer more than just a family holiday; we provide an unforgettable family experience where fun meets the beautiful game. Imagine your whole family enjoying the world’s best handpicked family resorts, expert football coaching and fun with our football legends. This is not just a getaway; it’s an opportunity to create lasting memories together.”
The likes of Rio Ferdinand, Michael Owen and Peter Crouch are one of a number of former Premier League stars listed as ambassadors. According to the Football Escapes website, the starting prices for a holiday and training experience for a family of four range between £4,650 to £8,650.
