(CNN) – Mexico sent 70 firefighters to California Saturday afternoon to help fight the wildfires.

When they landed, the firefighters were sent to the Noble Creek Operations Base to get their assignments.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom shared a video of the airplane carrying the firefighters landing on the tarmac of the Los Angeles International Airport.

Newsom said the Mexican firefighters will be joining more than 14,000 personnel already on the ground to fight at least one of the fires engulfing the Los Angeles area.

“California is immensely grateful to our neighbors’ support in the fight against the wildfires in Los Angeles,” Newsom said on X.

Newsom also announced that he will double the number of California’s National Guardsmen deployed to the Los Angeles fires to 1,680 service members.
