A Scots flight has been forced to take a 120 mile diversion to Newcastle.

The Aer Lingus aircraft left Dublin at 6.36am and was set to land in Edinburgh over an hour later on Saturday, January 11. But the EI3250 flight made an unexpected diversion to England.

According to Flight Radar, the flight landed at 9.05am – over an hour after it was expected to land in the Scottish capital. Edinburgh Live understands it was diverted due to fog.

We have previously reported on several Edinburgh flights being diverted due to weather conditions. On December 27, another Aer Lingus flight made a 200-mile diversion to Edinburgh due to foggy conditions.

Back in May 2024, Loganair flight LOG65KL was unable to land at its destination airport in Dundee due to fog and instead was forced to divert to Edinburgh.

Aer Lingus have been approached for comment.
