SCOTT Brown has urged his Ayr side to take one game at a time as they bid to hunt down Falkirk at the Championship summit.
The Honest Men are firmly back in the title picture after a festive flourish – and victory at Dunfermline tomorrow night would move United within two points of the top.
Boss Brown is staying laser focused on the task at hand and insists the rearranged trip to East End Park will provide a big test for his in-form squad.
The Pars are flying under caretaker John McLaughlan and have taken four points from Falkirk and Partick – scoring seven goals into the bargain.
Speaking to the Ayrshire Post on Monday, Brown said: “They’ve had the lift from that change and the last two results show they can be a threat to anyone. It was a tough, tough game when we went there earlier in the season and they’re a team on the up at the moment, so we need to be ready tomorrow night.
“But our lads are playing with confidence at the moment and we have the likes of Geo [Oakley] and Jay [Henderson] looking really sharp up top. We’ll need that again tomorrow.”
Brown has overseen a recent resurgence at Ayr – they’ve lost just once in eight outings in all competitions – but says nobody at Somerset Park is looking too far ahead.
Celtic centre half, Lenny Agbaire, and Rangers midfielder, Cole McKinnon, have been added to the squad, while United are exploring a number of options open to them as Brown looks to add another striker before the end of the month.
He said: “We’re on a good run and it’s been great to get three clean sheets on the bounce. But for us it’s about one game at a time and not looking too far down the road. Every game is important in that respect and tomorrow is no different.”
