FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. – The United States Department of Justice said a Fayette County man has been sentenced to 12 years and eight months in prison for federal drug crime.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on May 8, 2022, 66-year-old Jeff Allen Adkins was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over in Oak Hill. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found around 113 grams of fentanyl and 109 grams of methamphetamine, the Department of Justice said.
Adkins told officers that the substances were his and that he planned to distribute them, according to the Department of Justice.
The Department of Justice said Adkins has a long criminal past that includes prior convictions for offenses such as grand larceny, breaking and entering, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, hit and run, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Department of Justice said Adkins was sentenced to 12 years and 8 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
