MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency is still working to get people financial assistance in Mercer County and now WVVA is continuing to learn more about how much money has been given out already.
Leaders with FEMA say that so far they have approved more than $1.3 million in individual assistance which include more than $760,000 for housing assistance.
More than 700 people have registered for assistance and people are still being encouraged to apply for assistance if you were affected by the remnants of Hurricane Helene.
The disaster recovery center has relocated permanently to the Lifeline Princeton Church of God. The center is now open daily, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.
The center is also open on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. However, the center will be closed Saturday Jan. 18.
