Christina Trevanion, known for her work on Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, is back on The Travelling Auctioneers.

The third season of The Travelling Auctioneers has returned to BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with 43 year old Christina Trevanion once again guiding fans through the hard work of auctioneers and restorers.

With the BBC TV personality back on the daytime series, many fans are keen to learn more about Christina Trevanion.

Early life

Born in June 1981, Trevanion developed a love for antiques from an early age, thanks to her parents Hazel and David, and would often pester them to watch auctions conducted by a family friend, reports the Mirror.

She later studied Fine Art Valuation at Southampton Solent University before securing a job at the prestigious London auction house Christie’s. In 2013, after being noticed by a BBC producer, Christina made her TV debut as a valuer and researcher on Flog It! and has since regularly appeared on other popular shows like Antiques Road Trip and Bargain Hunt.

Family life

While studying at university, Christina met her husband and future business partner Aaron Dean. The couple tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in 2010 and established their own auction business Trevanion and Dean, based in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

In 2019, Christina took full control of the company as Aaron pursued a new role as a national manager at Adam Partridge Auctioneers and Valuers. The details behind their decision to part ways professionally remain undisclosed. The couple, who have two daughters, live in Shropshire and have previously described their family life as “pretty noisy, hectic and good fun”. It’s believed that their children are now teenagers or older.

Heartbreaking loss

The Bargain Hunt celebrity was left heartbroken by the death of her father David in 2013 due to cancer. While Christina is usually private about her personal affairs, she felt compelled to address a news headline on X, formerly known as Twitter, in 2018 about England’s “worst ever” cancer waiting times.

Her tweet read: “My grandfather died from cancer. My father died from cancer. I have two close friends both currently suffering with cancer. Both on long waiting lists. Both getting poorlier. This headline is so desperately frustrating.”

In 2019, Christina also honoured her father, reminiscing about her wedding day: “Nine years ago today, this man walked me down the aisle and technically ‘gave me away’… although he would say that ‘he reluctantly agreed to share me with’ the (other) love of my life. Thinking of all those with a missing piece in their puzzle, but hoping that 2020 is a goodie!”

Hospital scare

In February 2024, The Travelling Auctioneers’ beloved narrator had her fans expressing concern when she uploaded a hospital bed snapshot, signalling an “unexpected” visit. While specifics were kept under wraps, Christina’s photo displayed her arm, marked with a drip and a hospital ID wristband.

She captioned: “Adieu February and good riddance frankly! An unexpected hospital stay meant an unusual opportunity to catch up on some good reading. Safe to say I was not a patient patient… but thanks to the TLC of some incredible nurses (you know who you are! ) I am now back in fine fettle.”

Family history

Christina opened up about her family history when showcasing her great-grandfather’s military medals during an episode of Bargain Hunt.

Heading to Leominster, Herefordshire, she sought expertise from military specialist Steve Nuwar, expressing: “I’ve brought along my great-grandfather’s medals. He’s a bit of a family hero, Gerald Arthur Stacey, bless him. He was my granny’s father. And I was hoping that you might be able to tell me a bit more about them.”

Nuwar revealed that Gerald Arthur Stacey wasnt just any soldier; he was quite pivotal, serving as a Major and acting second in command for the Second Battalion London Regiment of the Royal Fusiliers. His remarkable service earned him accolades including the Distinguished Service Order from King George V and the Legion D’Honneur, which stands as France’s preeminent award.

Heartbreakingly, the great-grandfather of ‘The Travelling Auctioneers’ star never received his First World War medals as he was killed in action in 1916.

The star became visibly moved while reminiscing, saying, “I always remembered talking to granny about it because when he was killed in 1916, he left a very loving wife and four children,” before admitting with a tearful voice, “Oh, I’m going to cry. I can’t cry! Pull yourself together.”

Additionally, she revealed her grandmother, Gerald’s daughter Molly, lived to the grand age of 109, placing her among the top 25 longest-lived people in Britain.
