The premiere of Love Island: All Stars will feature a tension-filled reunion as Marcel Somerville is questioned by ex-girlfriend Gabby Allen about their past relationship.

The pair, who became an item after appearing on the 2017 series and finishing in fourth place, enjoyed a year-long romance outside of the show.

Somerville then married Rebecca Vieira in 2022 with whom he shares a son – however they since split. He also featured on the reality show Celebrity Bumps.

Set against the backdrop of South Africa, the new series of Love Island: All Stars starts this Monday evening, bringing back memorable contestants such as Curtis Pritchard from series five and Scott Thomas from series two.

The episode will see a warm but awkward interaction between Allen and 39-year-old Somerville, encapsulated in a hug upon their reunion.

Professional dancer and personal trainer Allen expresses her conflicted feelings, remarking: “I have mixed feelings about you. It’s nice to see you, but I also think you’re a knob. Do you know what I mean? ” To which Somerville responds: “We both just lived since innit… it’s bringing back that past.”

Allen continues, highlighting the strangeness of their meeting and hinting at unresolved issues: “It feels weird. When you actually think about what happened, Marce, what the f***? “.

Viewers are teased with hints of more explosive revelations from their conversation to come in the episode, alongside revelations on who the former stars will couple up with and the intriguing games they will engage in.

Host Maya Jama is set to introduce an ice-breaker game to the contestants, where the women will pick out the men they believe show “red flags”, indicating potential relationship troubles. Elma Pazar from series five commented: “Marcel’s going to get every single one.”

The line-up for this year includes Nas Majeed from series six, Olivia Hawkins from series nine, Luca Bish from series eight, Kaz Crossley from series four, India Reynolds from series five, Ronnie Vint from series 11, and Catherine Agbaje from series 10.

This spin-off brings back former contestants to the villa in their quest for romance. Love Island: All Stars will be broadcast on Monday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
